Ants breathe oxygen into their bodies through spiracles, which are a series of apertures on the sides of their bodies. The spiracles are linked by a network of tubes that aid in the distribution of oxygen to nearly every cell in their body. The activity of an ant helps the oxygen circulate through the tubes, while the emitted carbon dioxide exits through the same tubes.
